62% of content is from people they know

Mashable reporter Adam Hirsch reported some quick tidbits from the AlwaysOn opening keynote.

And this one stroke me, from Pew Institute:

“62% of the content that any 21 year old views online was produced by someone they know.”

This is impressively high. The study dates from July 2006, so it’s not big news. But that pretty much confirms the confinement of social networks: exchanging within friends.
