Umm... MacBooks are only $999 ($899 for students) so um.. yeah they aren't like 1,500. Because you don't HAVE to buy the extra memory. I wouldn't.. you honestly don't NEED it & won't ever use it. Think about it.. you'll have that laptop for what? 4 years? that's only like $250 dollars a year. That's not that bad... Even I, a 14 year old girl.. could afford that.

Comparing a Mac to a PC is like comparing a BMW to a Ford...

Hmmm... both have 4 wheels, both have a v6 engine, both get similar gas mileage.. The Ford comes in more colors, has more interior room... why would you buy the BMW?

First of all drive both... is there a difference? Secondly, look at the extra costs -- options, depreciation, maintenance. Which one is more likely to break down?

If all you do is drive 2 miles to church each Sunday, a BMW may be a waste, but the more you drive, the more you'll appreciate the difference.

How much time each week do you spend on your laptop? How long does it take to start up and shutdown? How often does it crash? The Mac is simply a better ride.

I know the PC is cheaper, but when you buy a mac book pro your buying a laptop made out of aluminum instead of cheap flimsy plastic. The quality of the materials of the mac are better (not referring to the electronics they are pretty much the same). My next laptop will be the MacBook pro I get sick of hinge breaks, and plastic cracking (I put more miles on my laptop now than my car). If you can see the value in a MacBook Pro go for it. If it has no value for you then stick with the PC. However the guts for the mac cost about as much as the guts for the PC. It's the case your paying for with the mac.

There are number of individual experiments proved that Windows based PCs crash more often than Macs. There is a noticeable performance difference between them when multiple programs are running at the same time. PC’s performance drops drastically with number of running programs, Mac on the other hand doesn’t show much difference in the performance.

From the article <a href="http://www.differencebetween.net/technology/difference-between-pc-and-mac/" rel="nofollow">Difference Between PC and mac</a>

Here is another aspect of the Mac Os that is a fun feature and QUITE the advantage over a PC. Even if you use Boot Camp or Sun Micorsystem's VirtualBox or FMware to run windows on your mac your mac is still more stable than a PC. Each program within a Mac is self contained. Meaning should a phenominon take place and you get a virus in say iPhoto for example. The virus is incapable of spreading throughout the Mac. Should you get a virus from running windows on your mac the same rule applies. The windows portion of your mac would be torn to shreds, but the rest of your Mac OS would remain protected and safe because the virus has no file path to reach any other components. Just another advantage. Lastly Mac controls every piece of the manufacturing of their computers from start to finish. Most all PC's HP, Dell, Asus, etc just take the lowest bid for parts and manufacturing. Mac is more stable and secure in both hardware and software. It is well worth the extra money, because it saves you a lot of hassle and money in the long run. This is from a broke college student.

you said it, Whodafux. A trojan horse took over my wife's computer (even though she updated regularly and used macafee, paying the yearly fee). She delared "screw this"...got a macbook...and is LOVING it.

If you don't have to run proprietary software regularly, I think people who get windoze PC's are just too shortsighted to know better.

Folks... you are missing the large point...

Macs are more expensive yes but you are not paying monthly for some norton crap virus software... you arent just paying for the hardware but also the OS that comes with it. OS X is the most stable operating system to date and yet you arent paying for an anti virus license each month..

stick to macs - because in 2 years when ur pc starts to take a dump - your mac friends will laugh

I have long been a windows fanatic, MSCE web designer using all platform daily. The relentless misconceptions at first through me, MAC I knew nothing about them it was going to be too hard....i thought. My first Mac was and Imac, stunning is the only word I can use 18 months in not a single issue, crash or reboot due to some faulty software. I run all windows applications through Parallels and boot camp I offer remote assistance to windows users and remote access into windows PC at work all from my mac. Interestingly My parallels VMware Vista got a virus so I had to reinstall, all games including Crysis are played using boot camp. Sure they are expensive and really too expensive its the OS and software that make a make I guess that's why so many people are going down the Hackingtosh route.

If you buy a Mac it take a little time to get use to it by after a few months you actually forget the windows issues and realise there is more to computing that windows. I still use windows at work but for everything else I use a Mac. The Imac has been running without being switched off for 4 months now!!
