Tumblr templates

Update: I haven’t created any Tumblr template. Instead, I switched to Wordpress , I am happy about it and apparently others are too !

The biggest boost Wordpress got was its openness. It allowed advanced developers to create plugins and themes, and average users (long tail) to cutomize their blog.

Tumblr is open, has an api and a guide to create custom themes - however, although it has now 100k ? 200k ? users, I still don’t find a lot of different templates.

I am going to try to create my own this week end, and see where it gets me.

I’m in the same boat … I want to add a different look to my Tubmlr site. So I did a quick google search to see what was available, and I’m not finding much. Did find your site though. :-)

Guess I’ll have to actually code something myself. GAH!

I started coding my tumblr when i realized the design was not the only improvement I wanted. I came to realize the only difference between microblogging and blogging is the lenght of the post, not the app it is posted on.

And there are various themes and plugins that make blogging on a wordpress blog, for instance, as easy, quick and light as microblogging on tumblr - only with tons of added functionalities ;-)

some of the readily available templates are ripe for tweaking though.
