1,312 delegates to go !

Yesterday, during the “Potomac Tuesday“, we saw Barack Obama pass Hillary Clinton again in the race to the nomination at the Democratic convention.

Initially, I thought it was the first time since the beginning of the Democratic Party presidential primaries (since the Iowa caucuses to be exact). But while digging through the results, chronologically, of the primaries and accruing the number of pledged delegates won, I realised that Barack always led the race (except the day of Super Tuesday, where Hillary led for a few days). If Hillary Clinton has been a front runner, it is thanks to the superdelegates only, as more voters voted for Barack since the beginning.

So yesterday was the first time again that Barack had an overall lead (pledged delegates + superdelegates).

Can this last ? Well there are another 1,312 delegates to be wonuntil the end of the race, major States as Texas, Virginia and Pennsylvania where the battle will be fierce, and the race is so tight that obviously it is going to last long.

But whatever the outcome is, it is fantastic to see how popular this election is, and how much it is been watched, discussed and debated.

People are passionate about politics, it’s a fact for the 2008 United States elections !
