Count 13-15 bucks here in Paris to go see a movie, 2 times out of 3 I am disappointed in what I've seen and the time I enjoy the movie I am just thinking that the experience would have been much better at home, because some annoying people were sitting around me. ;) I really think that online video rental platforms are going to kill theaters, the same way iTunes killed CD sales. 1. The equipment at home is getting "closer" to what theaters have (large image, good multi-channel sound, HD capabilities) 2. Price: renting a very recent movie on iTunes in HD is around 5-6$, and the whole family can watch it. Taking your family to the cinema costs today 50$!!!! 3. Release time from theater to rental is shrinking every 6 months and I am sure that very soon it's going to be almost simultaneous.
