You Don’t Mess with the Zohan !!
I saw You Don’t Mess with the Zohan yesterday, and I didn’t board the place with great expectations…
Well I must say, I laughed a lot. Is it worth $11.75 (+ $1.50 handling fee on Fandango … !!) ? Maybe not, but it certainly got me smile for 2 hours.
On the good side: it’s heavy and thick humor, it’s a big load of Israeli and Arab accents, it’s full of hummus and Yiddish expressions, Adam Sandler is (for once?) funny, Emmanuelle Chriqui is as usual beautiful, the trailer is only a trailer (i.e. the trailer doesn’t encompass ALL the jokes of the movie), some of the fun on the US/Jews/Palestinians is quite audacious for the American market.
On the bad side: it’s really heavy and dumb humor sometimes, the ending fucks it all, why insert political messages in such a movie … ??, some of the fun on the US/Jews/Palestinians is really not funny.
Should you go see it ? Rotten Tomatoes gives the movie a 34%. I think it’s worth trying it if you like heavy humor.
