I love the crunchvision map that Mapeed, a french startup, created using the Crunchbase API. There have been other maps of startups done in the past, but this comes from a list of more than 11,000 companies, so it gets some authority ;)
Here is the world map of startups that are in Crunchbase:
There is no surprise: half of the startups in Crunchbase are in the U.S. And Europe only counts 1/4th of the U.S. startups. However, I am surprised to see that in the U.S. there are almost as many East Coast statups as on the West Coast. If you zoom on the map, you’ll see more or less 2,100 startups in California and Seattle, and almost 1800 in the tri-state, Chicago and Florida.
And finally, I’m thinking about sending my resume to Raysta - must be tough to work in the British Virgin Islands !!
